Speed Racer Review (Minor Spoilers)
Finally got a chance to catch Speed Racer before it's gone from the cinema for good. The weird thing was that Ironman has more showtimes than speed racer even though it was released far earlier.
Overall, the show was okay, I would give 3/5 stars for the show. At first I thought the show would just be another boring show with loads of family drama, as I watched along more action took place making the show 2 hours plus. If you are a person who love watching movies with combination of family drama and racing action, you would love this show even more.
The two parts of the show which were the most touching for me would be the part where he raced in the Grand Prix at the time where he reminisced about the things Racer X told him, you can see all those funky animation around him while he was driving and thinking. The other part was where Racer X revealed himself as Speed's brother (although it was never disclose to Speed), Speed already suspected Racer X was his brother since his driving style was so similar, when he took of his mask...it was another man's face (the main staring from lost, yea! The doctor!). It was revealed to the audience that he fake his death and went thru a plastic surgery...even at the end, he wanted his identity to be hidden from his family.
For the driving action, the beginning sux. I prefer to skip the starting and start from the middle instead with the Casta Cristo race with Taejo and Racer X. The stunts reminds me of Carmageddon (a PC game I played when I was 10 years old) where you go around screwing people's car to win the race! The ending race was fantastic as well, at first I thought it would be something like "to be continued.." but they proved other wise in the movie.
The catchiest line I got from the show was "Don't drive the car to change the world, but let the car change you" from Racer X, Speed's brother, Rex.

It is always good to expand your movie-watching horizon, you never know if it will be a diamond or a lump of coal!
